The Military Macaw (Ara militaris) is protected by national and international regulations such as Mexico’s NOM ECOL 059, the IUCN, the Endangered Species Act and the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species (CITES).
The project is based on the concept of conservation through sustainable use. Instead of spending large amounts of money on enforcement, the goal is to reduce illegal harvesting of crocodilians through legal and responsible management.
